You have FIOS because of some vacuous promise from Sony about Gakai?
He left Sony in Feb 2008 and started working for MS in March of 2012, he obviously had a 4 year non-compete clause in his contract with Sony. I doubt that he knows anything about the PS4 unless it was learned from contacts still within Sony.
Anyway, it's retailers getting rid of excess inventory post-Christmas. It's not rocket science, happens every year.
Ahh, NPD's and time for my monthly allotment of schadenfreude.
Crazy numbers by Microsoft, US is truly MS land.
$299 with a 2 year contract
I think his prediction of 675,000 WiiU's is high
Nice piece, I enjoyed reading it.
Regarding used games, I rarely buy them but often trade in older games towards new releases. If something like this patent goes through I'll be getting alot less new games and I suspect that I'm not alone. This is a stupid move by ANY console manufacturer.
Or buying Gaikai was a poor business decision, companies make those you know. That being said it's a good time for Sony to but things if they think they can handle the debt: the strong Yen that hurts them as an exporter helps them when purchasing assets from countries with weaker currencies.
I'm a long time subscriber to Live and I agree that MS has to step it up next gen, they need to set themselves apart from Sony if they want to continue to charge. If Sony charges then nothing will change.
Edit: Nintendo isn't even in the picture
more accounts, not more gamers
Token support only, the market has changed
That's a nice, well balanced list.
Why? What's wrong with the story?
Love it
Oh please, you people need to lighten up. Not everyone views this industry through the lenses of a console warrior.
Not a bad letter but you should probably refrain from the insults in the last line if you want to be taken seriously.
And I suppose you could just avoid Kotaku articles. Save yourself alot of stress.
It's not just Kotaku talking about video games and this incident, it's the mainstream press, the NRA, Congressmen and women. Putting your head in the sand doesn't make it go away.
I don't get the Kotaku hate here, they do a better job than 99.9% of the fanboys who post here on N4G (including me).
I'm pretty sure that in my magazine they gave Blops 2 an 8.5
Unless Valve comes up with a way to easily port Windows games to Linux the Steambox will just be a dream at worst or a niche product at best. I just don't think that the major third party players can be bothered supporting another platform. Windows definitely won't be around forever but it will be years and years before it goes away, unless a MAJOR party does a better Linux interface that the general public can accept (like Google does with Android)
Edit: Well wri...
